چکیده

Context Knowledge gaps exist for the interference of Avena ludoviciana and Argemone mexicana in chickpea grown eastern Australia.Aims This research aimed to examine effect different levels A. their potential cause yield loss chickpea. Methods Experiments were conducted a randomised complete block design with five weed infestation both weeds (none, low, medium, high, very high) three replications.Key results Infestations at 15 17plantsm−2 caused an 83 48% reduction yield, respectively, compared weed-free situations. Based on regression model, 50% occurred 10 mexicana, respectively. modified hyperbolic maximum seed production level 1plantm−2 was estimated 366 7800seedsm−2, At crop harvest, retention greater than 50 90%, respectively. Conclusions substantial yield. High suggests possibility manage these two through harvest control.Implications The information generated from this study could help strengthening integrated management chickpea.

Neuropharmacological study of Argemone mexicana Linn

In the present study methanolic and ethyl acetate extracts of Argemone mexicana whole plant (Papaveraceae) were tested orally in swiss albino mice at doses of 100 mg/kg, 200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg b.w. for CNS related activities. Papaveraceae family is known to have CNS depressant activity, so A. mexicana was evaluated for CNS activities. Significant central and peripheral nociceptive activity was...

n-alkane profile of Argemone mexicana leaves.

An n-hexane extract of fresh, mature leaves of Argemone mexicana (Papaveraceae), containing thin-layer epicuticular waxes, has been analysed for the first time by TLC, IR and GLC using standard hydrocarbons. Seventeen long-chain alkanes (n-C18 to n-C34) were identified and quantified. Nonacosane (n-C29) was established as the n-alkane with the highest amount, whilst octadecane (n-C19) was the l...

Comparison of Various Sampling Methodologies for Site Specific Sterile Wild Oat (avena Sterilis) Management

The ability to manage weed infestations in a spatially precise manner will rely on the availability of efficient methods of mapping weed distributions. We have conducted a study designed to compare four different ground based methods for collecting georeferenced information on sterile wild oat infestation in a winter barley crop. Sampling was done at harvest time (when wild oat panicles are mos...

Cytotoxic benzophenanthridine and benzylisoquinoline alkaloids from Argemone mexicana.

Fractionation of the chloroform extract from the aerial part of Argemone mexicana led to the isolation of two benzophenanthridine-type alkaloids, N-demethyloxysanguinarine and pancorine; three benzylisoquinoline-type alkaloids, (+)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-(2-hydroxymethyl-3,4-dimethoxyphenylmethyl)-6,7-methylenedioxyisoquinoline, (+)-higenamine and (+)-reticuline. Among them, N-demethyloxysanguina...
